Meghauli Serai Chitwan - Nepal
Meghauli Serai, located on the banks of the Rapti river, opens its doors to nature lovers who can explore the wonders of this rich habitat through a variety of Safari experiences – traverse through thick Sal forests perched on the back of an elephant in search of the one-horned rhinoceros, or canoe down the Rapti river and witness ghariyals and countless birds, or undertake a walking safari amidst tall elephant grass. Choose your haven in the wild, from luxurious Rapti villas with plunge pools to contemporary rooms overlooking the Himalayas and the Terai grasslands below. 543 species of birds. 605 species of animals. The last vestiges of the rare one-horned rhinoceros. The last refuge for the Bengal Tiger. Elephant grass that is 4 metres tall. Located in a UNESCO World Heritage site declared in 1984.
The Chitwan National Park is the last surviving example of the natural ecosystems of the Terai region and covers subtropical lowland, wedged between two east-west river valleys at the base of the Siwalik range of the outer Himalayas. The core area lies between the Narayani and Rapti rivers to the north and the Reu River and Churia hills in the southern border. The spectacular landscape, covered with lush vegetation and the Himalayas as the backdrop makes the park an area of exceptional natural beauty. The forested hills and changing river landscapes serve to make Chitwan one of the most stunning and attractive parts of Nepal’s lowlands.
